| Joan would like to thank everyone who
sent names for the new mini Tarpan! The work put into this was awesome, with many
excellent names being entered, sometimes along with translations and historical
information. Over 80 names were submitted for consideration! Some of the criteria considered in selecting names were suitability, ease of pronunciation, ease of spelling, if the name was easy to remember and whether the name could be too easily confused with other words. For judging, Joan chose all the names that most appealed to her, selected her three favorites, then, without telling either of us which she liked, let Kristina and I go over them separately to select our own favorites. Well, both Kristina and I also liked Nomad, so it was virtually unanimous! The pottery congratulates Monica for submitting such a wonderful name. Monica will receive a mini Tarpan from the first firing, the number one piece! This piece, unlike others, will have the number one added to its belly in addition to the regular pottery insignia. And sincere thanks go to everyone who worked so hard submitting names! |
