So you want to buy a Pour Horse?
Only existing customers may order original finish Pour Horse pieces from the factory. The customer list is currently limited to 300 active customers, and inactivity will drop them from the customer list. (This inactivity takes a long time, as sometimes an individual piece will take up to two years to complete the run on. Customers aren't required to purchase every horse that comes out, so the wait to be on the list can be long.)

The only exception to this rule is some auctions or other special events... if Joan intends for an auction to be for customers only, she will indicate this. Most of the time though, they're fair game for everyone.

Why the customer list closed

Closing the list for the glazed ceramic horses was a move required to keep quality high and limit the wait to a reasonable period! Pour Horse Pottery is essentially a ONE-person factory. (Joan does ALL the work, from moldmaking, casting, cleaning, painting, shipping, and etceteras..... The only thing she doesn't do is sculpt the pieces!) This means the wait may be as long as a year for a miniature horse and as long as two years for a larger horse.

To be added to the waiting list:

Follow these directions carefully.

1) Send a letter in the mail, asking to be added to the mailing list. Include your name, address, and any other pertinent contact information.

2) When openings come available (lists are updated and purged before a mailing), generally the people on the list for the longest get added next. If you do not receive a mailing, you are not on the list for that piece. You will not be notified that you are not on the list - can you imagine Joan sending out letters to everyone who's not on yet each time a mailing goes out?

3) If you move, you will want to write to Joan saying you're already on the waiting list, and that you have moved.

4) If you want to be removed from the waiting list or moved to the bottom, do one of the following things: 1) Write to Joan telling her your interests are elsewhere and you want to be removed. 2) Send emails or other correspondence asking if you are on the list yet.

If you move... If you have moved since you last ordered a piece, you are responsible for notifying the pottery! If Joan gets returned mail with "address unknown" on it, you could be removed from the customer list! She can't afford to hire a detective to track you down...

Please read your mailings carefully! The mailings contain information that may be important to you, like order forms, ordering deadlines, auctions, contests and such.
